Front st.; Orchard st. from 300 to 320; North St., W. First and W. Second sts. From 400 to 800; Orange and Moran sts. From Front to Second; and Wyllis st. Front to frist.

Mr. Bassett was a member of the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church for the greater part of his life, serving as trustee for over 36 years and as steward and chorister of the congregation. He was a member of Nursery lodge, F. and A.M., and Local 514, National Association of Letter Carriers.

On November 29, 1916, he married Miss Gretrude Goins of Massillon, O., the wedding taking place of that city. He is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Ada Turner of Pittsburgh, and a number of nephews and nieces.

The body was taken to the Crawford funeral home and will be moved to the family home this afternoon. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Greetings,

I hope that all is well! In searching the internet, I came across your page and would like to know how you went about searching the Oil City Derrick? Are you currently in Oil City?

I am doing research on my family and have come to understand they attended the AME Church. Oil City, and its size, I can only presume that this was the only AME church in Oil City at the time (1900-1940s).

Any information you can provide would be most helpful!

Thank You,
Trisha

(If this reply seems short, its because I had a long one and then when the page reloaded it, it got lost)

Hello!

Thank you for posting your process. I'd love to know how you went about searching the Oil City Derrick? Are you currently in Oil City?

I have relatives that were from the area (in the area in 1900-1940) and want to get more information on their time there.

Any information you can provide would be most helpful.

Thank you in advance!
T. Ali

Hello, I was fortunate to have someone who read a post I made about my ancestor's marriage to DeVoe Bassett on Afrigeneas. They emailed me to say they were researchers of the Bassett family and I asked this person if they had DeVoe's obituary. I am not sure how they obtained the obituary but most of my material comes form Genealogybank.com
