It is the 150th Anniversary of the Dred Scott decision. Dred Scott sued for the right to own his own person. The decision made by the United States Supreme Court in 1857 said that people of African descent could never become citizens; Dred Scott must remain a slave. Only after the 14th Amendment and a Civil War did that change.
